Are your employees’ part of Generation Flex? 🤔
This week is National Work Life Week and a recent study by YouGov found that a vast majority of employees were becoming what’s now know as the “new generation flex.” The survey highlighted that:
· 7 out of 10 working parents with children under the age of 18 felt that it was more important than pay, to work in an environment where wellbeing is central to a business’s culture. And that any demands of their family life were understood and accommodated by the company they work for, from the top down.
· Hybrid and remote working patterns have even changed since the pandemic. With employees wanting more flexibility around working patterns especially during school term times and summer holidays.
· A staggering 89% of working parents said that flexible working arrangements had a positive effect on their wellbeing.
· 2 out of 5 employees would also like to see mental health support implemented at their workplace.
· 89% of parents also mentioned that they would feel more loyal to an employer who offered flexible work opportunities, compared to one who didn’t.
So, for companies who want to stay competitive, it’s now time to start thinking beyond what flexible working means to their employees. And it seems for now that employers who can demonstrate a commitment to family-friendly working will actually be one step ahead, in attracting & holding onto the best industry talent.
